Papgeld (“we”, “us”) is a digital co-parenting and child-support record platform operated by ElasticWebHost from South Africa. Our public site is papgeld.com; the signed-in product is app.papgeld.com; the iOS and Android apps are titled Papgeld. We process personal information to run the service — not to sell data or build advertising profiles. Privacy and POPIA requests: [email protected].
This Privacy Policy applies to the Papgeld websites, web app, and mobile apps (iOS and Android), and to related support channels. It explains what we collect, why, how long we keep it, who can see it, and your rights.
Papgeld is for adults: parents, authorised caregivers, and listed lawyers. Children do not create accounts. Information about a child is entered only by an adult in that family. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (at least 18 in South Africa).
Depending on how you use Papgeld, we may process: account details (name, email, phone if you add it, authentication identifiers); family membership, roles, and invites; chat messages, voice notes, reactions, and read receipts; calendar and handover events; maintenance, expense, and payment records you enter (including amounts, notes, and proof files); vault documents and memory photos/albums you upload; child profile fields you choose to store (for example school or medical notes); emergency contacts; language and currency preferences; device and technical logs (IP address, app version, approximate diagnostics) needed for security and reliability; and subscription or entitlement status when you buy Family Premium or Papgeld Lawyer.
We use personal information to provide and improve the features you use; keep each family’s space separate under role-based access; send transactional email (invites, security, product notices you enable); produce exports and court PDFs you trigger; detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents; comply with law; and manage paid plans. Chat, photos, and vault files are stored on our servers so authorised members of the same family (and, where you grant access, a listed lawyer) can see the same record. Content is not end-to-end encrypted.
We process information to perform our contract with you (running the app), where required with consent (for example optional emergency share links), and for legitimate interests such as securing the service, preventing abuse, and improving reliability — balanced against your rights. Where another law applies (for example GDPR if you are in the EEA/UK), we rely on equivalent bases.
We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts and we do not use children’s information for advertising or profiling. Parents and caregivers decide what to store about a child and remain responsible for that content. Access follows the roles configured in your family space. Enter only what you need for care and records.
If you subscribe on iOS, Apple processes the payment through In-App Purchase. If you subscribe on Android, Google Play processes the payment. If you subscribe on the website, Paystack (or another payment provider we name at checkout) processes the payment. We receive confirmation of purchase, product identifiers, and entitlement state so we can unlock Family Premium or Papgeld Lawyer. We do not store your full card number. Store billing history and refunds are controlled by Apple, Google, or the web payment provider under their terms.
We do not sell personal information. Content is visible to members of your family space according to role. Lawyer access requires an explicit share or listing flow. Emergency share cards work only through a secret link you create. We host Papgeld on infrastructure we operate and use contracted processors only as needed to run the product (for example email delivery, object storage, analytics limited to reliability, and payment/subscription platforms such as Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and Paystack). Processors may only use data on our instructions.
Papgeld does not track you. We do not link the information collected in the app with third-party data for advertising purposes, we do not share it with data brokers, and the apps contain no advertising, attribution, or ad-network SDK. Purchase history, device identifiers, and your email address are used only to run your account, keep families separate, provide support, and unlock the plan you paid for — never to build an advertising profile or to follow you across other companies’ apps and websites.
Servers and processors may be located in South Africa or other countries. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps appropriate under POPIA (and other applicable law) so the information remains protected.
We keep account and family records while your account is open and as needed to provide the shared history both parents rely on. When you remove a vault file, a limited trace may remain so the shared record stays coherent. After account deletion we delete or anonymise personal data as described on the Data deletion page, usually within 30 days, except where another parent still needs shared records or a legal hold applies.
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to a record-keeping product (access control, encrypted transport, backups, and monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for what you choose to upload.
Under POPIA (and, where they apply, other privacy laws) you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, object to certain processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) or your local authority. Some rights have lawful limits (for example shared family evidence another parent still needs). See also POPI Act and Data deletion, or email [email protected].
The mobile apps may request camera, photo library, microphone, contacts, Face ID / biometrics, and (on iOS) a location purpose string required by photo libraries even though Papgeld does not track GPS in the background. You can deny permissions; some features will then be unavailable.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product or law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where consent is required by law.
